Since no one is starting one, I will smile

I'll start off with a dream I had a few years ago.

A little backstory first: There was this HUGE star in the sky near the moon, that wasn't actually a star, but a planet. Before I found out what it was I was staring at the sky every night wondering, and it lead to this dream:

I had a house which was basically a hallway with lots of stairs up to rooms. In the far end I had a livingroom. I was standing in the window of this living room and watching this star, and suddenly I just knew that it was aliens coming to earth and they were going to land outside my house. So many people came and rented these rooms from me to be there when they arrived.
I was standing in the window as I watched them descend and land outsie, and suddenly the ground and all the floors became soft like rubber, and it was difficult to walk because I kept sinking in it.
The aliens came in my house and started weighing us and taking measures. I began to panic, and the last thing I remember was grabbing my cat and trying to run away, but the rubber ground made it a slow go, and very difficult.

smile

Funny how we remember dreams for years. Sometimes I wake up after dreaming about something very familiar, and I don't know whether it's because I actually dreamed about it before or because I dreamed that it was familiar tailspin

Anyway this morning I was dreaming that my left eye wasn't working (well, not exactly, it's hard to explain, maybe I can draw it though), and I was really panicking, then I realized I was asleep and tried my best to wake up, screaming and jumping out of bed, but I was still asleep! I kept dreaming to wake up in the dream only to realize that I was still asleep, it was like waking up in different dimensions (or differen reality levels) each time. When I finally properly woke up I was so relieved!
This thing happens to me a lot lately, anyone else experienced it?

I know what you mean eli, like in "Inception" Laughing .It used to happen to my when I was at high school, my mom used to wake me up and then I always used to fell asleep again. But in my dream I was dressing and chosing my uniform, and washing my teeth etc, then she waked me up again and I was still in my pijamas.. it was weird.
I sometimes dream, after drinking, and I dream about situations that can be true, like an "alternative take" of the night I've just lived and then I don't know what was a dream and what wasn't.

Ha, Lilly! Can't say i've ever had an alien abduction dream.

@Eli, yeah i sort of get what you mean with that.

I have dreams where i realise i'm dreaming and decide to do whatever i want. Well, only very occasionally these days.

Last night was, idk, boring. Lately i've been dreaming about plane's crashing, but yesterday i dreamt i was walking around the airport (in really bright sneakers), got on the plane, we were taking off, and the pilot decided to slow down/stop taking off in the middle of it because he didnt realise "australian runways were so short".

(i realise this makes no sense, but that's what happened LOL...it's also boring. I promise i'll give a better one when i have one tongue )

It's the only one I ever had.
But you can say I was pretty obsessed with that big "star" near the moon that time, because I couldn't find any information on it anywhere for a long time. And it was also at the time where my "the world is going to end/I want the world to end" obsession was at it's worst, before I finally came to my senses.

I've never had lucid dreaming though, where I have controlled my dreams. But I have had dreams where I've been aware that I was dreaming, but not enough to direct it myself.

And many years ago, when I was still in high school I also dreamt that I got up, got dressed and went to school, only to wake up and have to do it all over again. Not a good start to the day at all Laughing

A dream I have remembered for 20 years now already, is one I had as a child.
I was in the jungle and had a tiger running after me, and every time I looked behind me it was getting closer.
My mom woke me up because I was actually "running" (more like kicking though, since I was in bed) and screaming in real life as well.

Something about being held hostage and climbing out of windows/jumpig down buildings and somehow the sleigh of Santa Claus played a big role in this escape... i don't even know.

Ooh, that reminds me of another dream I had once. I was locked inside a building which was basically just one enormous room with scaffolding covering all the walls. And the only choice I had was to run and climb around it because someone was chasing me. Suddenly a window appeared at the top and I managed to get out it right before the guy caught up with me, and I jumped to a tree. Then I was kinnda stuck in the tree and couldn't go anywhere, but (luckily) I woke up before I was caught.

--
In my teens I also had these weird "dreams" like, in the state inbetween being awake and falling asleep if you know what I mean. And here there would always be some person moving reeeeeaally slowly, like slow motion, while turning to look at me, and then give me the creepiest smile ever. Those "dreams" felt so evil, and they really scared me.

I often dream that I have to go back to high school and repeat everything. No

But there's a lot of more to it. A lot of craziness. Maybe I'll try to elaborate later.

I don't remember my dreams most of the time. When I was younger I'd just got back from a school trip from Berlin, we'd hardly slept the whole time we were there, we didn't sleep all the way home on the bus and as soon as I got home I went straight back out to the cinema. We went to watch Haunted Mansion and that was the only time I fell asleep at the cinema. I wasn't quite asleep properly and I had this weird awake/asleep dream with the film mixed in. When I finally went to bed that night, I sleepwalked into my mum's room and asked her where everyone was because the rest of that week I was in a room with 7 other people. My mum was like... WTF

That was the only time I ever sleepwalked (to my knowledge). There was a time when I used to shout/swear in my sleep. That was when I was going through a hard time with my see you next Tuesday of an ex girlfriend though. I don't do it anymore.

I used to sleepwalk as a kid sometimes, but that's not very uncommon. It mostly stops for good once you hit puberty.
I never did anything exciting though

Does anyone ever have ghosts in their dreams? I've had them in my dreams forever but last night they had a different feel. Typically the ghost reside in a big house. First floor doesn't have ghosts. Second floor has harmless ghosts. Third floor the ghosts are not pleasant. Attic ghosts are truly the things of nightmares. Well last night there were ghosts on the first floor. I'm a little weirded out by that because it was one of the typical second floor old lady ghost. She was at the dinner table waving at me. Are ghost dreams typical?

I had a dream last night involving really random people I haven't thought about in a long time. I was just like, in French class, and there were all these people I haven't seen/thought about in years.

Everyone except for the person I'm kind-of/sort-of involved with right now. Was weird.

The other day I woke up in the middle of the night, and I remember that, but I was still dreaming or something. I remember being told (by whom?) that my bed was booked to a guy and I should leave. I was super concerned about this, but I couldn't move or do anything because I was sooo sleepy. So after some moments debating in my dream if I should leave my own bed or not I just said (yes, I probably said something aloud) that I would continue to sleep in my bed.

I think this last night something similar happened and I probably said something aloud too, but I don't remember what was the dream.

I think this whole moving to another country is making me super anxious and nervous, which affects my sleeping pattern. meh

I've never dreamt of ghosts. I've dreamt about dead people, but not in the form of ghosts. Dream interpretation sites do have interpretations for ghost dreams though, so they do happen. As for being typical, I have no idea.

This btw reminded me of a dream, which I'm quite sure was actually more than a dream. It happened when I was in the darkest place I have ever been in, and never wish to return to ever again.
I was very depressed, angry, helpless, and just about ready to give up on everything. It was about a year and a half after my mother passed, and I had avoided the pain, sorrow and grief by working myself too hard, so on top of it all I got burnt out. Not a good place to be, trust me!
Since my mother died very suddenly and unexpected I never got to say goodbye, or be prepared for it or anything. I was also meant to go visit her the day before she died, but I had favoured coffee in town with my friends over her, and of course I would live to regret that. Maybe I could have saved her, or at least gotten to see her that one last time had I just went to her. I tortured myself with thoughts like that.

Anyway, so the dream I had was unlike any other I've had. It's one of the only times I have dreamt of my mother after her passing. And it was her visiting me, spending a day with me. And I knew during the dream it would be the last time I got to see her. At the end of the day a black car came to pick her up, and she got in the back of it and rolled down the window. I became hysteric and crying and didn't want her to leave, and she explained to me that I knew that she had to go now, it was just the way it was. I told her that I know, but I didn't want her to. She just said everything would be okay, then she waved to me through the window as the car backed out and drove away, and that was it.
When I woke up that morning it was like a burden had been lifted off my chest. And I am sure to this day that my mother saw the state I was in, and came to visit me in my dreams to give me the last goodbye that I needed to be okay with her passing, to forgive myself and also her, and to start getting better smile

I can definitely understand why you tortured yourself like that and why you were in such a state. I'm glad somehow you got to overcome that and I think you are a stronger individual now. You are such a beautiful person. smile

I had a few dreams with my mom since she died. I remember one dream in which I saw her and she was at our kitchen. I knew she was "back", and only I knew that, because for the others she was never gone. I was so happy. I remember hugging her and feeling super safe and calm. That feeling is so amazing... but then waking up her is hard.

Another dream was better. I just had left my job, my career at journalism and I was trying a new career (the one I have now). Everything was uncertain at that point. And then I had a dream and my mother showed up saying "everything is going to be fine". That was good. That gave me the courage and calmness to go ahead.

My dad pops up in my dreams from time to time. Unfortunately it's always the same plot. He's strangely not dead but sick and getting ready to die all over again. They are very stressful dreams. I think I dream too much...

I've always been strong, because I've had to. Life with my mother wasn't always great, which is why her death was so utterly heartbreaking as well, because I had just gotten her back, I had finally gotten to know who she was without drugs, and life was finally looking good. And then she dies. Like you have to start to wonder what you have ever done to deserve to be teased with happiness only to have it yanked right away again. But I'm definitely stronger in a different way than I was. I know now that it's okay to allow yourself to be "weak" sometimes. It's okay to be sad if you need to be. It's okay to take a time out if you need it. I never did that before. I just powered through everything.

You know, I think your mother visited you too, maybe in both, but definitely in the last one. The "Everything is going to be fine" sounds like a reassurance that you needed, and she gave it to you.
I am so sure they are up there watching, and they know whats going on.

I'm so very sorry you have such dreams about your dad! How long is it since he passed?
I had a similar dream to those you have of your father about my mother right after she passed. She was standing in the living room, alive, but her body was decomposing. She said she was tired and wanted to lay down, and I said something to her. I don't remember what it was, but it must have been something bad/rude, because my brothers father told me to not speak to my mother that way. Then I just started screaming at him asking if he really wanted her to die again.
Those are the only two dreams I've had about my mom. This one way less pleasant than the other one obviosuly.
I'd hate to have it as a recurring one, so yeah. I'm truly sorry! Hug

Also, random fact... our imagination can't "create" new faces while we're dreaming. So every face we see is someone we saw at least once.
