So I decided to watch a bunch of Oscar films this weekend, because I was bored:
- Dark Zero Thirty: Amazing! I wish I could see this on the big screen. A great thriller that had me on the edge of my seat for the entire run. Great perfomance by Jessica Chastain.
- Les Miserables: Couldn't finish it. Boring, confusing, Russel Crowe is absolutely awful... Maybe I try to finish later.
- Silver Linings Playbook: The first half is great, the second half is boring and full of cliches. The ending is embarassing. Loved Brandley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence though. She is hot as hell.
- Anna Karenina: I love Atonement and Pride & Prejudice with Keira, but she is miscast here. The love story doesn't work. The fillm looks incredible, but very shallow.

Jennifer Lawrence in Silver Linings Playbook. Jennifer Lawrence in general.
I've heard the same about Crowe in Les Miserables.

Watching Lincoln now. Bored. I can see it's a good mobie though.

House At The End Of The Street, I think it was called. I watched it, it was decent enough. Not the kind of movie you watch several times, but good enough for killing an hour and a half

Oooh! Thank you for reminding me Mike! I wanna watch that as well
I did. It's okay. I'm not a great Wes Anderson fan. I find it really hard to relate to his characters, but I can see why others would enjoy it.
I really liked the soundtrack though.
Btw, I finally saw Skyfall last night. Impressive.

I know. In a way he always seems to distance his characters from the viewing public which can make it hard to emphatize. (The Royal Tenenbaums comes to mind) Moonrise Kingdom felt more accessible than his other movies though.

Although I shouldn't be, I'm still biased about James Bond movies. It's a franchise that never really appealed to me. But I know this one is a very different beast compared to all that came before, so I'll probably see it one time or another.

The franchise really evolved after Daniel Craig came along. I never really cared about James Bond. It was only fun. Now James Bond movies are truly exciting drama-action movies at Bourne level (I haven't seen the last though, no Matt Damon...). And this one is especially full of drama in the best way possible and packed with stilyish action scenes. It doesn't get better than this...
Oh wait! It can get better: Casino Royale gave us Vesper...

I guess the changes are as drastical (in a good way) as those in the Batman franchise. And the Bourne movies are definitely a good source to be influenced by if you want to make James Bond relevant for the 21th century.

It was! I just got around to seeing it, and I want to laugh and cry all at the same time! I just loved it! Loved. It!
And it was so odd seeing Julia Stiles in such a grown up role! I haven't seen her since.... around Save The Last Dance. And of course, 10 Things I Hate About You is an all time favorite movie of mine.
Also, Jennifer Lawrence continues to blow me away. She's such an excellent actress! The others in the movie were great too, but I have no comparison for them, as opposed to hers where I've seen all her movies, and she's just amazing! A true talent! And I really like her choice of roles.

I saw her in Dexter a few years ago which was also something entirely different from the roles she had played before.
“Veronica will survive the movie,” declares Thomas. “I can’t promise anyone else does though. But there will be an opportunity for Veronica do to her thing again.” As in a sequel? A 10-episode Season 4 on Netflix? “I’d be lying if I didn’t say I didn’t think of those things,” admits Thomas. “I am hopeful it is the birth of [much more] Veronica Mars.”
