Yeah, religion and more so church play very little roles in our society.

Haha yeah, America is weird. Every time I go to Florida it trips me out, people look and speak the same way as I do, but they're so much more... ancient in what they believe in and stuff.

Makes me super glad to live in the sane part of the continent.

I'm coming to Sweden! I said this to my friend today and she told me Sweden has the highest suicide rates? (which i didn't expect) ..... Lol, i wonder where Australia is on that list^

And jeeeez, did you guys see Girl With the Dragon Tattoo??
I just saw it now. Good movie, but fucking disturbing. I started tearing up at one point. And now i'm just super paranoid about everything around me lol.

Religion is such a crazy thing here where I live because it influences everything. It isn't the same everywhere in the country but in small town life it's everything.

I saw the movie too. It is disturbing, but I like it. And I really liked Daniel Craig in it.

Really? I think Finland is always way up on these suicide statistics, but sweden?

I can understand it, Canada has a pretty high suicide rate too (In our northern territories it's one of the highest on the planet, period).

Something about cold, depressing weather for 10 months a year, it rubs off on people. It's hard to smile sometimes when you see the sun for an hour a day.

I'm sure if you look more in depth, the suicide rates are relatively a lot higher in rural areas than they are in large cities (Stockholm, Helsinki, etc). You're not wealthy, it's dark and depressing out, and for fifty miles in any direction there's deserts of snow. Plus Scandinavian countries (Along with Russia and Canada) have extremely liberal perspectives on alcohol, which also contributes to higher suicide rates.

Sweden is 30th on the list. Finland is 15th.

Former Soviet republics (poor, extremely high alcohol usage), China & Japan (Where they literally work themselves to death), and northern countries. Coulda called that one.

yeah Daniel Craig was great! But i'm so impressed with Rooney Mara! To be able to embrace a character like that and just become them...she's awesome.
The rape scene was just...idek, i felt sick after it.

She's visiting LA and doing the tourist thing. She's going to win some game on the show and get a trip to Vegas.

my sister and I will also try to get on the Ellen Show when we're in LA.
THough I doub't we'll get the tickets somehow.

We'll leave the address of our hostel but even simple things like leaving your telephone number becomes a problem
Because if you write the +49 before the regular number, it's too long and doesn't fit in one row anymore

Also I'm not even sure if they will still be shooting when we're there - meh we'll see

You could get a US sim card? I reckon you can probably pick up an AT&T one on prepay for about 20 bucks.... you'll have to get credit for calls on top of that, but local calls will be really cheap, and incoming free most likely.

Depends how long you're gonna be there for I guess though, and if you plan to go back anytime after that??

Nah, you have to apply in the next weeks already for tickets in may and they call you when you get them, so you can confirm the whole thing.
And we're only there for a few days (5days LA and after that 5 in San Francisco), just a summer holiday after my final exams and before I start working in august.

Italy is lower on that list, I guess we're too stupid to be depressed. Add that suicide is one of the worst sins according to church people. I wish I lived in Germany where religion doesn't matter that much! I had to go to church and sunday school even if my parents aren't religious just because everyone else did.
I remember this girl in my year that wasn't baptized because her family wanted her to decide on her own when she was older, which is pretty cool if you ask me. She was guilt tripped by friends, priests, even primary school teachers, until she begged her parents to do it. A 10 years old girl.

my topic is 50(!!!!!!!!!!!!) pages long in my big ass school-book - and I'm supposed to shorten it into one research paper.
I have 2 now, and I already only have barely more than headlines on it and will have to explain all the rest in my presentation - which can't be longer than 25minutes.

I went to a catholic school my entire life and I've never met someone extremly radical. Including regilion teachers. There were open gay people in my school (students and teachers). That fanatism sounds so weird to me. I can't really understand it and I've never experienced it.. Also yeah, money is evil lol.

The problem is, that I'm basically lacking all the basics and the even bigger problem is, that everytime I sit in front of my italian-exams I go "ugh - i just want to go home!" and can't really be bothered with it.

But maybe I'll write a short text about Venezia and it's problems and have you proof-read in preparation for the exam, if that would be okay with you?
