| Christmas is more of a ham holiday here because we just had turkey last month for Thanksgiving. | |

| Ham (and chicken) is more Boxing Day for us.
I did need glasses. I'm really short sighted now. Thanks a lot work... Won't get them until into the new year either so I'll have to put up with the headaches until then.

Traditionally it's the "Business Christmas" day, where servants and peasants were given some sort of present (A "Box" of something like food or clothes) from the landowners/nobility.

| Ok, that makes sense. We don't have it here but I've heard it talked about a lot. | |

Lol, all it is now is when the post-Christmas sales start. Kind of like Black Friday.

| So you guys all basically have a "centerpiece" meat sort of... I'm jealous.
And yes, Boxing Day = what Mike said. I thought it was just an Aussie thing.

| What do you guys eat then, Rosie? This is one of our traditional yule dinner, and what I prefer, and save myself for all year. I don't understand people who start eating this as Sunday dinners from November and all yule and new years. That takes all the specialness out of it.. Just a few more days now though Then there's this: Which is a typical sunday dinner all year round, and I get super depressed if I am served this for my yulefest dinner. And this: Fish prepared in some special way. Never had it and never will. It can't get more boring than this, yuledinner-wise. Some have turkey also, but that's a rather new tradition, and it's most usual to have it on the first or second day after yule, or new years. | |

| Is that second picture pork? I like the look of that.
We just have a variety of dishes. Start with cold meats/cheeses, then pasta, then schnitzel/lamb/beef and veggies... And fruits/desert after. Basically whatever my grandmother feels like making haha. There's typical courses though.

| Yeah, the second is pork. I don't like it very much. Too much fat on it, which is gag-worthy. The lamb though. Salty goodness Pasta and schnitzel is part of your yule? I wonder if my version of schnitzel is the same as your version.. Other than that it sounds absolutely wonderful Mmmm... food! I've just got done writing the grocery list for new years, for what I am missing. All I can think about is food. Buying food, making food, eating food. So much goodness this time of year! | |

| I can't wait either! Although, I've been tasked with making a soup and preparing the veg so I'll have to get up early. Maybe I'll get started on it tomorrow night actually... | |

| As long as it's all done in time, I don't think it matters I'm gonna hit the sack, should be sleeping already. Long day tomorrow with all the celebrations. Does anyone else here celebrate on the 24th, or do all of you celebrate on the 25th? Anyway, happy holidays everyone! | |
