Never seen Vertigo, but I saw North By Northwest a few years ago and I liked it a lot.

Neither have I. Or maybe I have, but never all the way through or my memory of them is hazy. I usually get the pop-culture refrences people make to the Rocky movies though. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is a great old movie.

| Breakfast at Tiffany's is amazing, but it's one of the few classics I've seen. I've never seen the Rocky films, or the Godfather trilogy for that matter. | |

| Vertigo is definitely my favorite. Then Rear Window, Psycho, The Birds and Rebecca.
Starting with Hitchcock is a great way of getting familiar with classics. It's very easy to watch and very entertaining.
EDIT: I used to be a film buff. Saw lots and lots of classics when I was a teen. It's a shame that got kinda lost in the past though.

| I see I haven't seen many classics at all. Out of the ones mentioned I've seen just 4. And the only one I really like out of those was Wizard of Oz. I guess also The Sound Of Music belongs with the classics? That's a good one. And I've also never seen any of the Rocky movies, nor would I ever want to. Sometimes one of the channels here do like a Rocky marathon every once in a while, and just the commercial for that bores me to tears | |

| Oh Vertigo... such a mesmerizing movie. Here I was born, and there I died. It was only a moment for you. You took no notice. | |

| My classic of choice is Imitation of Life. I love a great tearjerker and it never disappoints.
The Rocky movies are actually pretty good. I know I like I and II and it seems to me that I also enjoyed III.

| There's just something about a sport (or a film about a sport) which is mostly punching each other in the head that I can't get into. Lol. | |

| Rocky isn't really about the punching. | |

| ^ Indeed. That's a common misconception. Certainly the first one is deeply layered. | |

You can bring it, but I can't promise I'll watch it. I honestly don't think I can sit still for that long?! I can barely sleep for that long in one go. - Isa wrote:

Indeed. That's a common misconception. Certainly the first one is deeply layered. Indeed. It's more about overcoming odds, the victory of the underdog, and all that good stuff. Makes you feel good at the end.

I'm sure that's true, but the basis of the film is boxing and it doesn't interest me at all. Overcome odds and give me a victory of the underdog in any other sport... Well, maybe not any sport. But you get the idea.

I could cope with Shaun of the Dead if you have that? That's about as much zombie as I can handle though...
