| I am officially burnt to a crisp! I'm the lovely shade of a lobster and super excited about it! Well, just my torso is that shade but that really was my goal. I got a little reading done while I was baking. I'm reading this book called Who Do You Think You Are? and it's pretty interesting. Of course the book is probably why I'm a little crispy. I was timing my tanning but I lost track of time after the second flip.
Also random, I got a crazy text from one of my ultra crazy cousins wanting me to go drink with her. I can't drink in the early afternoon. My family is way too hard partying and I'd probably be passed out before it was even close to dark outside. I'm a light weight!!

| Good evening all! Talk about being burnt to a crisp. The skin on my back feels like it's a few sizes too small, and hurts like a bitch! Also covered in sun-rash all over my arms and chest. Lovely..! Yet my legs remain as white as ever. No color, or even a burn to be had there. The title of your book, Shanna, got me the Spice Girls song on loop in my brain, so, thanks for that I just finished reading my book, and the cliffhanger it was left on for the next book is bloody brilliant! Too bad it's a years wait for it. Isa, sounds like you're having fun over there! Are you required to cover your hair at all times now, or was it just for visiting the mosque? We call Eurovision -> Grand Prix. I think at least, that's on tonight as well, so that must be the same thing. Heard Sweden was a favorite, or at least that's whats my gran thought, Norway's was just a dull piece of crap in her opinion I don't watch the stuff, it's super embarrassing. | |

OMFG. Now I'm just picturing myself, like sitting outside a synagogue with binoculars or something. That's awful. - Quote :

The actual holiday, which is Monday, is a day when you're supposed to honor your dead, particularly soldiers. It started off as a military holiday, anyway... but now people use it to decorate all graves. I think some countries call it Decoration Day? But the entire long weekend (Fri-Mon) has evolved into the American "Opening of summer." People go on picnics, have barbecues, go camping, etc. And then Labor Day weekend, in late August or early September, is the corresponding "Closing of summer." Which I always find depressing, so Memorial Day is much more fun. Oh dear, I just looked out the window (my brother and his girlfriend are swimming) in time to see him yank her bikini bottom down. I don't think I was supposed to see that.

| I just realized that when I talk about swimming in my creek, you guys might be picturing something gross, so I thought I should clarify that it's spring-fed and crystal clear, Lol. These pics are from the 80s (only ones I have handy online), but it still looks the same. The bad thing is, where my family (my parents, my grandma, and me) live is kind of like living in a state park, so especially on holiday weekends, everyone who's ever met us just tends to drop by and ask if they can swim. Already today two carloads of people have come and gone. I don't usually mind it because I love watching the kids have fun, but sometimes it's kind of annoying. People should at least call first. Shanna, what kind of book is it? I'm curious now. | |

Yeah, I think I did, in the off-topic thread. I think that's why they're online at all, actually. Shanna, you're reading Alice Munro!?!!? She's my favorite writer of all time. I'm actually reading a story collection of hers too right now, but it's from a few years later - The Love of a Good Woman. How weird would it have been if we were reading the exact same one? I haven't read that earlier one, but it's on my list. I have this weird fear of reading all of them, and then having none left, so I try to space out and savor the books of writers I really love. Plus Alice Munro is in her 80s now, so there probably won't be that many more books to come. The thought makes me sad.

I'm enjoying her writing so far. Since it's summer I'm back to my never ending reading list. Thank goodness I have a used book store two blocks from my house. It makes it easier to get books.

| So I'm sitting on my roof reading and all of a sudden my neighbor aka my sister comes out wondering what I'm going. I tell her i'm reading and she tells me that the police are on their way freaked out. She does police dispatch and the text her. It's not like I haven't sat out here before but now people are all concerned about it. She asked me if I was suicidal. Seriously?! It's the second floor! Just ridiculous. | |

| It's 6am here. I've slept like 3 hours and I just can't sleep again. Same happened yesterday.
I went shpping today and fashion here is just depressing. That will be hard to adjust. I haven't seen women in burka yet but a lot of woman cover everything but the eyes and that's so umsettling. It's disturbing. I had never imagined that wearing jeans and shirt would be exotic for some people.
