I haven't either haha.

Why are there all these american voting things saying "Don't forget to vote!!" like they have a choice? Is it not compulsory to vote...? It is here :S

Don't think it's compulsory? I think it's the same as in the UK?

I hope Obama wins. Shanna did you go to the rally yesterday?

I didn't go to the rally. I don't think I would have even if I could. I just don't feel excited. Oh well. I could still vote 3rd party.

No, you don't have to vote.

Where I live it's also compulsory to vote and it is better that way I think.
It's a shame though that election campaigns are focused on faces instead of ideas and that's a trend that seems to grow more and more throughout the decades.
In my country there were city elections and the first thing a newly-chosen major of a big city announced was that he was gonna build a big casino in the city. Erm... are those priorities at these times?

Yesss! Do it!

I think I heard some rumors that if Gary Johnson got 5% of the votes he'd be getting some large sums for the next elections campaign, and then he'd stand a real chance then.

Come on America! Time for a change, even if it's in 4 years from now.

Our last election was the only interesting one I can remember where it was more a 3 horse than 2 horse race. Ok, granted now we have this coalition government I'm not convinced works Shrug

I do think the next UK election will see more 3rd or 4th party votes coming as, as people have become so disillusioned with the current parties on offer. I don't really see much difference between the major parties in the UK anymore. They're all just bollocks really lol.

My feelings about the US election is partly based on policy, and partly concerned that control of the most powerful country on the planet be given to someone who doesn't know why you can't open the window on a plane....

Happy Birthday, Han! YAY

I didn't know voting was obligatory in some nations until now!
Do you have an option to cross "None of the above" or something like that then?

It's so sad that so many people don't feel this strong need to vote.
I mean, that also says a lot - when your society doesn't think either vote will improve anything.
We have the same problem in germany. For me it goes without saying to vote.
I feel like I can only complain about politics if I am engaged in them Wink

@ Alice/Rosie For me the results will probably be revealed in the morning (I get up at around 5:30 to 6 am and leave at about 7am - I think that's around the time they'll have the final decision in the US) so I should be able to get the results in the morning on the radio.
So I guess that will make it around midday to afternoon in Australia?

We'll se how this turns out.. we'll see.

What was suprising for me was this poll:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-20008687

Until now, I thought it was a bit of a "european thing" to favor Obama (it think for germans it has a lot to do with the health-care system that we really approved of, since that's what we're used to... and the fact that Romney only says BS), but apparently it's a "global thing".

But especially France simply adores Obama! 72%!

aside from the fact that I fear China a lot more than the US, I agree 100% with this lulz

I doubt our next election will be really exciting. I think it's save to say that Merkel is going to win the election next year.
Others might see her as "Madame no" but I'm relieved she doesn't give into the pressure from other countries easily.

Politics are really exciting atm - more so than they are anyways.
Every other country is broke, the euro is in danger, the british sceptism toward the EU is constantly growing, the german people feel like their paying for everything and anything and won't even get a decent enough pension to live a proper life once they are old and grey themselves, Greece thinks a 4th Reich is coming and Germany is using this financial crisis to finally gain the power over the other nations, that they always craved.
It's a crazy world.. it really is Very Happy

You're not allowed to cross "none of the above". You gotta pick someone unfortunately. And our main 2 parties are both shit.

Yep, the results should be here in the afternoon i believe then smile

This is the opposition leader of our country, Tony Abbott (prick) being told off by our current PM Julia Gillard (not much better) for being a misogynist. She tears him down, and brings out all the sexist stuff he's said. He's gross.

How come most of you only have like 2 options when it comes to voting?

We have 3 actually. The 3rd is The Greens party which no one takes seriously so no one votes for them. I vote for them because they're the only party that will allow me to get married lol... Actually the younger generation tend to vote for the Greens, but they still don't stand a chance.

Why, how many do you guys have Lilly?

It's not like they tolerate soooo much and then draw the line though. They're like "don't talk about Bram". It's a bloody rival ship, why the fark not?!

Anyway, day has been alright! Studying for a v. important practical exam tomorrow. How are you???

The trouble didn't stem from bram talk though, it was the Blaine hate. We ignore the rules over there all the time and they mostly let it go.
