I haven't seen any great fan fiction around lately. Can anyone recommend some, please?

I don't really like fanfiction.

The only one I like is Cora's Lake Hope.

Yeah, that's what I meant by I haven't seen anything good. I hate them when they're AU. Or the characters are too OOC. That's why I love Cora's writing. Has she made an appearance over here yet?

Okay, I feel too weird starting a whole thread for a fic, so maybe I should just post stuff here?

You know what, I have a feeling some kind of news about Glee's future is going to come out very soon and just totally throw me for a loop and make me too pissed to want to write. I've got to keep telling myself that it's AU and it doesn't matter what the show does, I can still do my version. It's just so hard. Did you see that Elton John article I posted at GF? Keck makes it sound like they may still be talking about a spin-off "for Kurt and Rachel," which makes me excited. But then I had this horrible thought - what if it's just Kurt and Rachel? What if for some ungodly reason they leave Santana on original Glee? They just... wouldn't do that, would they? Honest to God, I'd rather sacrifice Brittana than see that happen.

Anyway, that was just a caffeine-induced rant. I'm still writing and trying to outline stuff, but I'm having to accept the fact that I really, truly suck at trying to do long-arc storylines. I think it's going to end up being very episodic, almost like a TV show, with each chapter being kind of a stand-alone with its own beginning, middle, and end. I can't seem to come up with any real arc that would carry through the entire thing, other than the relatively minor one of Brittany being homesick and slightly jealous of Santana's new closeness to Kurt and Rachel, which eventually explodes in a big fight in the next-to-last chapter. But that would just be kind of a minor theme, you know?

Also, what are Santana's issues going to be? If she's out and comfortable in her sexuality now, what else would she realistically be dealing with? I don't want to give her a bunch of contrived angst just for the hell of it, but for dramatic purposes, there's got to be something.

And I wanted to say that if anyone has anything in particular they'd like to see, any kind of NYC Brittana fantasies, or just... anything, really, I'm open to ideas. There's going to be so much space to fill in. And if anyone has any flashes of inspiration for Santana insults, snarkisms, nicknames, pop culture references, you name it... throw 'em at me, please. I can't promise I'll use everything, but every little idea helps.

I have a headcanon of them getting wasted on vodka coolers one night and Brittany suggesting they break into one of those childrens' ball pits (Like the one Sheldon/Leonard are in during Big Bang Theory when Sheldon goes more insane then usual). Seems like something that could go down, and then the police can call the apartment and make Rachel come and get them.

I don't know if Santana outright needs to have like... serious angst. Just like, the minor stuff like life and work and whatever; though I can picture her becoming insanely jealous over something entirely in her imagination.

I love that you envision this being episodic. Your writing makes me want to take on the characters your writing so hooray for the episode vibe!!

I would love to see Santana get hit on by someone and be completely thrown off her game.

I've been thinking about a possible spin-off and I just can't see Brittana in the long run anymore. I can't. I think if Santana were to go to NY she would meet someone else, she would experience different things and everything between her and Brittany would be different, because they are in different places (metaphorically speaking). I think that would be my main theme for Santana after high school: growing up and seeing things are different and you just can't control this feeling and you have to move on. She would still love Brittany, but it would be something else. Maybe I was conviced by Ato, I don't know how to explain it, but I just don't think Brittany is the right girl for Santana anymore. Not "forever" anyway.

And I think this would be realistic: the idea that you will always love your first true love but you grow up and things are different, and it's sad and it can be pretty devastating, but you move on and you will find someone else eventually.

See, I definitely agree with this, and in my heart of hearts I think that's realistically how it would go. I wouldn't even be all that disappointed if it happened that way at the end of their run on the show.

But when it comes to fanfic, I just don't think I can do it without the happy ending. I don't really read much fic myself, but I especially don't like angsty fic or sad endings, even if they are realistic. And I feel like Brittana fandom overall is so young and sappy... I can't stand the thought of upsetting readers or depressing them. Young gay and bi girls in particular have so much to deal with in real life, I would want this to be more of a "happy place" to escape from it all.

Random thoughts - I think Santana should have had at least one relationship during her time apart from Brittany. And Brittany too, but I don't want it to be Artie. Would it be too bizarre if Artie and Tina got back together, and Brittany ended up dating Mike for a while? It'll all have happened before the story starts, but there'd be references to it.

I get it. That would be just my idea tho. I can't really write happy stories, only sad ones. But the real thing is that I'm so unimpressed with Brittany/HeMo/Brittana lately I'm just not feeling it anymore. I'm just more interested in Santana right now.

And I agree that Santana should have another relantioship/thing with another girl while Brittany is away. But then again, how can she be with Brittany again after this? LOL, yeah, I can't see it anymore.

Quick question - what's a plausible college that Finn would have gone to (for football, I guess) that's far away from New York?

Also, I'll repeat it, please post any Santana nickname ideas that come to mind, that you don't mind me stealing. Either for individuals, or for Kurt and Rachel as a pair. (Ex: Phil and Lil, Thelma and Louise, Simon and Gayfunkel). Sometimes it takes up so much time trying to get inside that crazy girl's head. Maybe there are websites with lots of pop culture references or characters?

Far away from NY that's still plausible for him? How about University of Indianapolis? They have football and it's a small school that actually looks in this area.

No ideas on nicknames and universities...

But I was thinking about your fanfic and I would love to have Brittany and Santana slow dancing. Just an image I got that could be cute.

The most I can see for Finn the university route is to still go to OSU and write him in as a successful walk-on for the football team or some crap like that. Either that or a Division-II school like Findlay, Central Ohio State, or Virginia State. I have no idea how to write Finn's future, so the football route still seems the best option. The show shot him down for Division-I football, but a lot of successful underrated players come out of Division-II schools, or he could go to a small Division-I school like Florida Atlantic or Colorado, etc.

Aww, slow dancing. I'll try to do a Valentine's Day chapter. So many cheesy romantic things to do in NYC. I kind of want to have them ice skate in Rockefeller Plaza too, and for Santana to be really unsteady and hanging on to Brittany.

It's strange how I have so little interest in the pairing on the show anymore, but I still love the idea of them so much. It's unbelievable how Glee has wasted so much chemistry and potential.

What about a smaller school closer to where you live? Anything smallish in MO or OK that could fit the bill?

For small Division-I schools in OK, you could go Tulsa, Oklahoma, or OK State (Depending how big-time Finn is, if OSU shot him down there's no way in hell he'd play for OK or OK State). I don't even think Montana has a football team for Division-I college athletics.
